This post is all about starting over at 30.
Have you ever wondered how to start your life over at 30?
Same, girl, same.
Well, I’m not going to sugar coat it; as someone who is currently going through it, it’s not the easiest thing in the world.
But, to be fair, sometimes the easiest things in life aren’t the best things in life!
If you find yourself starting over at 30, there quite possibly are going to be times you might want to go give up and just go back to your old life.
But, if you really are serious about making a substantial change to your life in your 3rd decade, it will be worth it and it is definitely tangible!
If you think about it, 30 is kind of the perfect age to give yourself a fair shot at starting over.
You’re old enough and (hopefully) established enough financially that you are able to give yourself the new start you’ve always dreamed of, and young enough that there shouldn’t be a rush to figure everything out.
And honestly, even if you aren’t financially set by 30, chances are you’ve still gathered enough life experience to give yourself the best possible outcome.
Whether you are on the fence and haven’t taken the leap yet, or you are in the midst of it and need some insight, here are the best tips for starting over in your 30s.
1. Pick a Location to Start Over At

2. End Dead-End Romantic Relationships
When starting over at 30, it might be time to end any relationship that has become stagnant or is beyond repair.
There are a plethora of reasons which might mean it’s time to end a relationship; but chances are, when you know, you know.
It’s really difficult to open a new door if you haven’t closed the one before it.
3. Weed Out Your Inner Circle When Starting Over
Take a good look and trim off any dead ends. By dead ends, I mean negative or toxic people which could be in the form of friends or even family members.
Basically, don’t feel bad for cutting off or distancing yourself from anyone who isn’t adding value to your life, or isn’t on the sidelines cheering you.
4. Start Over by Setting Yourself Up for Success Financially
There’s nothing more freeing and empowering than gaining financial freedom. Not only can it bring you peace of mind and reduce stress, but it can allow you to splurge on yourself from time to time.
Some of the best ways to financially get ahead is to priortize paying off your debt, investing your money, and cutting back on impulsive spending.
5. Work On Yourself
For some, starting over at 30 means diving into self care.
Maybe you have floated through life up until now without ever taking the time to focus on taking care of you.
Therapy, reading self-help books, listening to self-development podcasts are all great ways to work towards becoming a better version of yourself for future jobs, relationships, and more!
